Project Overview

The Media Organizer AI is a sophisticated tool designed for the Indian Literacy Project NGO to automatically extract and organize media content from WhatsApp chats. Field workers frequently send vital data through WhatsApp, including images and videos documenting their activities and achievements.

Previously, manually sorting these files was time-consuming and often resulted in lost metadata, such as location information and context. Our solution automates this entire process, preserving all metadata and organizing content in an easily accessible structure.

The Indian Literacy Project NGO was facing several challenges with their field data collection:

The system can process standard WhatsApp chat exports, which include text messages and media files. It handles both individual and group chats, extracting all media content automatically.

All images, videos, and documents are extracted from the export package. The system identifies and preserves the original quality of the media files.

Date-Based Organization

Media files are automatically sorted into folders based on the date they were sent. This creates a chronological archive that's easy to navigate.

Metadata Extraction

The system extracts all available metadata including sender information, timestamps, captions, and messages associated with each media file. This preserves the full context of the media.

Location Data Preservation

When GPS coordinates are available in the metadata, the system preserves this information and can even generate map references in the information files.

Information File Creation

For each media file, the system generates a corresponding information file that contains all the extracted metadata in an easy-to-read format.
